Could anyone recommend the proper type of halyard to use on extension ladders.Which one they found best and why.

Agree with the PMI Ladder line. Little pricy and I don't know the longevity but just finished doing 5 extension ladders with the stuff.
The splicing directions CMI supplied with the line didn't work. We just "S" wove the running part through the standing part three times. A fid helps doing that operation. Seems to hold. Might want to whip the end to the standing part for a stronger and nicer finish.
