Does any one know the orgins of this custom of, literally, pushing new apparatus in to the fire station?
I've never heard of it, but we are getting ready to have the ceremony for our new 75 foot stick and are looking for any appropriate suggestions on how to conduct this ceremony.

We are housing our new engine in Sept. From being at other housings I know they push them in 3 different times, blowing the sirens while backing in, plus it is blessed by a priest. That all follows the big parade, along with free food and beer.

That, sounds very cool, but, since we are a municipality, I don't think, there will be any beer, damn!
But, it would be nice if there was!
