Hiring process?

Can anyone give me an idea how long the hiring process takes for a firefighting position at an army base? I applied and was then contacted by the base's personnel dept about a month ago. They inquired if I was still interested. I replied in the affirmitive and was told I was being considered but have heard nothing since?! Any info will be greatly appreciated.

It could take up to three months for a hiring. We just hired 4 new people and took that look. When personnel called you they were culling the list OPM or some other agency sent to the Army post. If they are going to have interviews or agility tests you should be contacted back. But they can hire off the top three of the list. Call the personnel office back and inquire if a hiring has happened or if they are scheduling tests.
