    Post Federal/DOD Fire Depts

I am a member of Fort Bragg Fire-Rescue. I believe we are in the top five largest and busiest federal/DOD depts. 4,000 runs. We do fire, rescue, hazmat, ems assist, airport, prevention, inspections, pre-planning, E911, etc. We have had major fires, aircraft crashes, shootings, traffic deaths, etc, etc and a whole lot of smells/bells (probably 50% of our calls.) I am interested in talking to other posts about a few things. Manning, dispatching, work orders, inspections, etc. Plus I would just like to network out. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks and be safe.

    Cool

How are things going? I work for DLA on a supply base in PA. We only run about 700 calls a year. Do you run calls off post? What grades are your people? Talk to you later.

Sorry what is DLA? Each station has it's mutual aid area. (Some city, some county) We run second in on working fires. But we have had structure fires right out side the post and are first in.(Then we can talk junk about how slow they respond) As far as pay a FF is GS-5, a Driver/Lt GS-6, a captain (blue shirt) is GS-7 and a station captain (white shirt) is GS-8. Plus we get a good amount of premium pay. As far as AC and DC I am not sure. Let me know about your Dept. Have a good day.

I am a firefighter/emt of the Ft Wainwright Fire Dept. in Alaska, we provide structural/crash/and wildland firefighting, Primary EMS for the whole post, confined space rescue, ice/water rescue, fire prevention, auto extrication, and anything else that happens on post. I am not sure of run volume but i believe we are somewhere between 1500 - 2000. We have GS-6 firefighter/EMT/Drivers, GS-7 captains, and GS-9 Asst chiefs, our chief is a gs-13 over 2 posts here in alaska. we are different than most posts as we are still mixed civilian and military, we have anywhere between 50 - 75 military firefighters and around 25 civilians.
