Exclamation Any "GS" Firefighter/Paramedics out there?

We are looking heavily at sending guys to PM school. How do you guys get around a low call volume/ALS contact requirement per year? In house or college courses? Funding?Any info would be great!

Actually I am a FF/Medic. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to run as a medic on base. So I Vollie out in town and part time at the base hospital ER (Contract employee). Kinda sucks when you see something that needs to be done when you are first responding but are not allowed to do anything because of the vehicle you rode up in.
What branch base do you work on?
Oops, almost forgot.... All my ConEd is done through local College and Base Hosp.

    Running a code is easy.
The hard part starts when you bringem back and have a 30-40 min transport

We are a 2 station, 4 Engine, 2 BLS Amb, USMC base. There are other bases that have FF/PM. Our dept says they will make our GS5 Firefighters GS7 FF/PM and a service contract of an undetermined length will be signed for each FF that gets the training.
