Wildfire academy in VA

I saw the post about the colorado academy and I was wondering if anyone knew of one close to VA.

There's a whole host of wildland fire training throughout the country. One place to start your search is by going to the National Interagency Fire Center website at: www.nifc.gov
Follow the links through training & education. You can also link to the Geographic Area Coordination Centers (GACC), there are 11 of them in the country. The NIFC page has links to them. These GACC's also offer wildland fire training. If you want to come north, we host the "New York Wildfire & Incident Management Academy" at the end of October into early November here in Long Island, New York. There is a class in Orkney Springs, VA that is put on by the VA Dept of Forestry. It is called the "wildland fire weekend" and is held at the end of Sept. Myself and another FF whent last year and had a blast. It starts on a Fri. and ends on Sun. You can check with your local Forester about info, if he does not know he can find out.
