Just wanted to make a reading recommendation: Jumping Fire by Murry A. Taylor. It's a chronicle of the 1991 Alaska smoke jumping season... awesome first-person style, gives personal stories, grusome details, and great explanations of procedures, fire bahvior, and gear. Great book for the experienced wildland FF or for the total novice. Just a suggestion if any of ya'll have some free time on your hands (because that happens a lot in the fire service)

I couldn't agree with you more....Great book. I had the priveledge to meet Murray a few times at the BLM jump shack in Fairbanks he definitley is a very special individual. I also would recommend "Young Men and Fire" by Norman Maclean for those that haven't read it yet.
