I've been reading a lot of the posts lately. One thing that I have noticed is that a lot of you are recieving assistance of some type from your Department of Natural Resources (DNR). I'm looking for any information on working with DNR to start some type of similar program in Illinois. We are not one of the traditional wildland fire states, but we do have areas of wildland/structural interface. Some of you have been recieving USFS equipment through your DNR. My goal would be to see this program in operation and DNR working with our Office of State Fire Marshal on some type of Wildland Firefighter program, including Red Card! HELP!

The NWCG Training (Red Card) is good training and provides for standardized training. The National Fire Acadmey is also developing some urban interface courses with the assistance of NWCG for structural firefighters. The first place to start would be with the IL Natural Resourses people, Division of Forest Resources,Stewart Pequignot 217/782-2361Buckle Up, Slow Down, Arrive Alive
