    Default Deaths out West ????

Are there any more in depth inquiries about the Washington State FF deaths in the wildland fires (enviromentalists policies to blame) for reading and discussion.

there will be a full report issued but it will be a while.

Please dont be quick to jump on the "blame the enviromentalists" bandwagon. Was it a factor, probably. Was it the only factor, not a chance.

It will take about 1-2 months, maybe longer due to all of the wildland fire activity going on, for the investigation team to complete their task and produce a final report on the Thirty Mile Fire Incident. The September issue of FIREHOUSE will publish a preliminary report with some side bar information related to wildland fire LODDs.

The following is a link to a series done by the Yakima Herald Republic which is the hometown paper of 3 of the 4 who died in the Thirtymile fire.

Environmental conerns did cause some delay in air support, but was not a major factor in the unfortunate outcome.

The linked article is a good read for all wildland FF's as it addresses a lot of key issues that we should all be paying attention to on wildland fires.
