Hi All -

For those that are interested, the accident investigation team released its report regarding the Thirty-Mile Fire and the deaths of the 4 wildland firefighters.

It can be found at: http://www.nifc.gov/

As several people predicted in these forums, there were numerous factors that contributed to the deaths at this incident. Yes, the Endanged Species Act and confusion surrounding it played a part, but it was just one contributing factor among many.

My opinion is that the delay in getting helicopter bucket drops on the fire (due to confusion surrounding the ESA) was not a major factor, but a minor factor, in the deaths.

Lets use this report to keep our firefighters as safe as possible.

Stay safe.
