    Post "Red Cards"

    Hey,

I'm interested in taking the wildland fire courses, but are they good across the country? If I get them in NJ are they good outside of NJ? I know my F1 means nothing, and some of my other courses don't transfer to well to other state. I want to go fight brush out west during the season and just wondering if its all good.

The "red card" is actually a record of qualifications. The S130/190 are the basic courses and they are taught to NWCG standards. The cards will also show any other qualifications achieved. The taskbooks will be initiated, you will work on the tasks, and then you will be evaluated before being certificed. For an overview of the processes check out the National Wildfire Coordinating Group website. I don't have it listed on this machine as one of my favorites, but I think you can find it at www.nwcg.org.
