The pain felt among the families that lost a loved one, and the firefighters that lost their brothers, is inconceivable to me. I can only hope that they can find the strength to carry on the pride and integrity that those six men had. All my life I watched my father run out the door - call after call, and I am proud to say I am a firefighter's daughter. He had a job to do, consequences were never an issue. I will always hold the greatest respect for the men and women who chose to live this profession.
No "sorry" is strong enough to remedy the hurt felt in the firefighting community after this enormous loss, but my heart goes out to all.
