    Angry MANDATORY OT

SORE TOPIC IN OUR COM. CENTER, ESPECIALLY AROUND HOLIDAY TIME, AND THE SUMMER BRUSH FIRE SEASON. OUR SCHEDULED OVERTIME (VACATIONS, PERSONAL DAYS, ETC.) IS CALLED 5 DAYS IN ADVANCE. MOST DISPATCHERS HAVE BEEPERS AND THAT MAKES IT EASIER TO GET IN TOUCH W/ EVERYONE. SHORT NOTICE OT (SICK, EMERGENCY STAFFING) IS CALLED AS SOON AS IT IS RECIEVED. BOTH TYPES ARE CALLED FROM A ROTATING LIST. IF THERE ARE NO TAKERS, THE JR DISPATCHER IN THE ROOM, WITH THE LEAST # OF MANDATORY HOLDS IS THE SUCKER. WE HAVE A UNION AND THIS HAS BEEN SIGNED AND SEALED THRU THEM, AND THE LAWYERS. IT ACTUALLY WORKS PRETTY WELL. IF YOU NEED MORE LET ME KNOW. GOOD LUCK.
