    Question Fire Dispatcher training

Does anyone know of any Fire Dispatch training out there somewhere? If so, would you please let me know?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Try APCO (http://www.apcointl.org)
    or powercall (http://www.powercall.com)

APCO offers a Fire Dispatcher class that you can take on-line. It takes about 6 weeks to take the class.

NAEMD has come out with there EFD (emergency fire dispatch) priority dispatch class. You may check into that. It falls in-line with the EMD class.

Yes the NAEMD has developed a fire protocol class that is getting underway, and power phone offers classes. Our organiztion uses on the job training for fire dispatch only--plus most of us (except 2 blond-headed women) are active volunteers and know what's up.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the replies. NAEMD is local and have put on good EMD classes. We use powerphone protocol cards, they seem decent. As for on the job training, I am the only one that has experiance in FD/EMS. I am actively a Firefighter/EMT-I. I am trying to get fire dispatch trainging pushed through because they don't catch on to why we give a arrival report on a fire, why we have a command structure and other fire related dealings.

    Thanks for all the help,

I would check the APCO website for links. Also Medical Priority who makes the Emegency Medical Dispatch cards just came out with a new card system for fire dispatch. My personal opinion is to stay away from Powerphone. They haven't done much updating and sometimes it's hard to follow. Medical Priority seems to be the best I have seen.
    Just my opinion.
