    Question UHF-VHF

Is it possible to change radios with UHF programing to VHF?? We just recieved some donated Motorola HT750 for our explorers. They are all programed on the UHF band but all our fire frequencies are VHF. One other thing, if im not mistaken they are all computer programed and do not have the crystals? Thanks guys

    Unfortunately, no.

Radios are built to work best within a range of frequencies, then tuned to the specific frequency you need -- either by an analog system like Crystals, or modern comuter-controlled digital circuits.

Usually you can re-tune a radio to other frequencies within 5-10mhz of what it is set at, but beyond that it requires swapping out a lot of hardware.
