OUR DEPARTMENT JUST RECENTLY RECIEVED THE UNIT AND CAIRNS SENT AN INSTRUCTOR TO TRAIN ONLY 5 MEMBERS OF OUR DEPT. AS WITH TRAINING THE REST OF THE DEPT HAS BEEN GREAT, ANYONE HAVE IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS ON FUTURE TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR THERMAL IMAGING LET ME KNOW.
There are some imager posts in the "Technology and the Emergency Services" section that you should read.
Three other companies make much nicer helmet mounted imagers. All of which cost less. None of which have goofy dangerous wires hanging. All ride on the head better, have better newer techniology so you get a better image and are not in the middle of charging all the old users $3000 to retro fit 3 month old units so they'll work better. Or like they should have in the first place. Ask anyone who has helmet and handhelds, they'll tell you they'd rather have a hand held than a helmet based system and will pay $9000 less for it.
How about this new one called FLIR?I have'nt seen one yet, only ads.Looks like it might be the best of both.Mounts to helmet(both hands free). On and off easy with no wires.Anybody used one yet?
