We have three stations in our district and one holds a christmas party for the children in the surrounding neighborhood and give out age appropriate gifts and has entertainment. It is a great way to interact with those who support you. We also have pancake breakfasts at our station and not only does it allow the public to see what we are about but we make a small profit to boot!!![]()

RFD220,
That's great to give back to the public so much. It's a great way to show the public what we are all about. Great job!

Along similar lines we put "Santa" on a firetruck and take him around the town delivering candy canes to all the kids.

Our department helps with a local businessman that has been doing a "Joy Fund" for years. We provide the labor, picking up donated items such as food or toys, and collecting money in front of local food stores between Thanksgiving and the last week before Christmas. We also store everything in one of our truck bays and help distribute the stuff too. The program has impacted hundreds of families over the years, in several parts of the county, and we are proud to be a part of it.

We host kids' birthday parties at our fire station with a fun fire safety theme. It's a great recruitment and pub ed opportunity.
Here's our flyer: http://www.ecvfc.org/KidsBirthdayParty.htm

We take santa around town for all to see and to give parents a chance to get pictures with santa,
we have a cart with a tree and a bench, and even lights to make it a real treat for everyone.the smiles you get from everyone makes it all worth wild to volunteer to be santa for a shift.
