Is there any depts out there that have computers in their fire trucks. What do you use them for, and what kind of computer is it and what kind of software are you using.
We are looking at putting preplans in it and also having locations of hydrants listed.
Thanks and have a good day.

We have a laptop in our command vehicle. We run Firehouse Software which stores all of our pre-plan, hydrant and mapping information as well as incident reporting, etc.
However, we don't have them on our apparatus yet. We do have printed run books including detailed maps of our entire district.

Hey tiger, I have a couple of question for you. Does is the command vehical run on every call or only the major ones. Our dept has a laptop but it is in our command post and it is only out on large fires. My next question is who is in charge of making sure that the computer is up to date, and that new preplans are put into the computer.
Have a good day and be safe.

We use a program call emergency software Products. The software is both use for are fire inspections and pre-plan information. As our fire inspectors due their jobs they update the building information and floor plan information about each property, then they are down loaded to two lap-top computers. They are updated once a week by our fire marshal.
If you would like more information about the system we use contact Chief William Smith, Fairfield Fire Prevention Bureau, 230 Fairfield Road, Fairfield, NJ 07004 (973)882-2740
