Incident Location: 5539 Orlando Place
Good morning this is District one Chief Anson Turley of the Cincinnati fire department reporting on a two alarm fire that occurred in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Madisonville. The fire was called in at around midnight. When fire companies arrived at 5539 Orlando place they found a two story brick dwelling with heavy fire on the second floor. Engine 49 extended hose lines into the building to cut off the spread of fire while Ladder co. 31 rescued two occupants who were trapped on the second floor porch roof. There were three adult occupants in the building at the time of the fire. The two who were rescued by firefighters and one who managed to escape on his own. It took 45 firefighters approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. The two men and one women were taken to University hospital to be treated for burns and smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is being investigated. The loss is set at $70,000. For more information contact Chief Jay Boeing at 352-2344

1910: E-38 was placed in active service (Organized 8/8/1910) in new quarters on the north side of Baltimore St, just east of Fremont Ave, West of Downtown - It is a 2 story brick building on a lot 153.5'x45.5', costing $23,936 & the lot $11,063 - E-38's 1st Captain was John B. Bortell from E-7 - E-38 was relocated to the Steadman Station on 7/1/1981 - They were disbanded due to budget cuts on 9/21/1994 - E-38's original quarters on W Baltimore St is now an apartment building. "Stand Up & Be Counted!" - A Celebration of Volunteering
On December 16, Volunteering NSW with the assistance of the NSW Government, will host a Christmas celebration to bring together all of those who give so generously of their time and effort to support our community.
This family picnic day will feature a concert of live performances from popular Australian artists as well as an expo of volunteer organisations from across NSW. In addition we will provide a kids corner with a variety of games and activities, and the collection of an honour roll of all volunteers present to be housed in the State Library of NSW.
The concert will start at 1pm sharp and feature a host of Australian stars including:
Mental As Anything;
The Young Stars of Country;
Humphrey B Bear;
The Nations Choir
And Many More!
