Incident Location: 634 Neave Street

Good evening. This is District 2 Chief John Zompero of the Cincinnati Fire Division reporting on a one alarm fire that occurred Saturday evening 12/15/01 in the Lower Price Hill area. Fire dispatch received a cell phone call by a passer-by reporting fire showing in a 3rd floor window of a three story multi-dwelling at 634 Neave St. Fire companies were dispatched at 8:14 PM and arrived on the scene to find a fire on the 3rd floor and attic area of an occupied building. Upon entering the building, firefighters discovered that fire had consumed the stairway between the 3rd floor and attic. Crews improvised by using a ground ladder in place of the burned out stairs to access the attic area and extinguish the blaze. Fortunately, the area of the building involved in fire was unoccupied. All other occupants were able to escape the building unharmed.

The fire did an estimated $25,000 damage and the cause is still under investigation. There were no reported injuries.

For additional information, call District Chief John Zompero at 352-2322.
