Pennsylvania has a 2% surplus in its general fund, and every year taxes continue to bring in this surplus. I talked with Governor Ridge and he informed me of a plan he has to put a box on your income tax and if checked, a small percent of you tax will go to the local volunteer fire co. This will not cost the taxpayers a dime extra, only will reduce the surplus revenue. Our department has about 600 households. If there are at least 2 taxpayers per household, just think what we could have. All without raising a single tax. Contact Gov. Ridge and ask him about this proposal.
