I'm a member of our department CIS management
team.
Now, I don't know if this topic has been covered in the forum before, but, is there
a protocol for a Firefighter funeral ?
I feel that we should have a plan in place in
case the unthinkable happens in our 65 person
department. The stress of losing a friend and colleague would be great enough, never mind having to figure out protocol and procedures for memorial services, interment
etc...
Can anyone point me in the right direction ?
Thanks

Doc,
Thanks for the post. Many of us are currently working on protocols. The National Volunteer Fire Council has a great checklist for funerals. It is available through their web site(not sure of the adress).Check the Chaplain's/CISD forum also. Therer are a lot of resources on the web. Also, I've been contacting a lot of the biggher departments across the country to get copies of their protocols. When I do, I'd be happy to send you copies. Drop me an e-mail @ nsfirechap@yahoo.com. Also, on my web page I've got some links to resources where you can find some of the info you are looking for-the Federation of Fire Chaplains is a great place to start. My site is www.alaska.net/~nsfsa Keep in touch. If I can help, let me know.
