regionalizing a fire department

From the roof of my department I can use a slingshot and hit 8 pumpers on 4 other departments. The towns in my area all have sop to respond during the work day and most of the time they role at night as well. would it make it easier for the towns to become a region ?

Depends on 2 things,

First, How are the relations and politics between the departments and,

Second, Who will be "In Charge", will this Person be neutral with all the SOP's or will you take pieces from all and make one.

We (My County) have been toying with this Idea for as long as I can remember. The little "Rural" departments don't want to do this, only the large urban departments with the money and training.

Just something to think about...
