Cool just wanted to introduce myself

Hi everyone, I'm jim and have been looking for a sight like this for a while now and am glad that I found it! I have been in the fire service a total of 6&1/2 years but had taken a few years off until last October when I joined our local Vol. company and re-certified as an emt-b a few months ago. We cover a small population but cover 56 square miles of geography . With limited emt's and the nearest trauma center 40 mile away it keeps things interesting.
I just wanted to say hello and I look forward to hearing from all of you.Oh yeah I am from a small town south of Buffalo , N.Y. (still no snow...dec.14th) take care .... woody

Glad to hear from you, Woody. I don't think I could be away from the fire service for any amount of time. I love it TOO MUCH! As long as I'm able I will always be involved in it. Take care and be safe.

Hello Woody, glad have you here. Also happy to here that you returned to the fire service. I have been in the fire service for 15 years out for 7 because I moved twice, but no more I'm here to stay. Everybody who has been out and can still do the job always come back. It's a addiction!

    Hey Woody,

Volunteer FF in Colorado here, know how it feels to cover big areas, we have 40 members, 12 trucks, one station, a 3,200 square mile district with about 5,000 residents in town and 6,000 spread out across the rural areas. We have an E.R. in town, but the nearest Trauma Center is 120 miles away (can you say, "Life Flight"?)! :>)

But, we have the highest Rural Survival Rate in Colorado, thanks to a great EMS staff that runs out of the hospital and some of the best training a VFD can have, despite the fact we are one of the coldest places in the U.S. (30 below zero the other day, not a record for up here, but still cold!)

Welcome to the Forum, stay safe and have a great New Year
