Hello, all,

It is with deep regret that I inform you of the death of Firefighter Richard Devine, 49, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Engine 28, which occurred on Thursday, July 29th, 1999.

After knocking down a second floor bedroom fire in a row dwelling on East Westmoreland Street, he had left the building to remove his SCBA and cool down. He got a drink of water and then went back into the building, where he suddenly collapsed on the second floor. ALS was started and he was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of his death. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

The ten-year veteran is survived by his wife and stepdaughter.

May he rest in eternal peace and may the Good Lord watch over and protect the loved ones that he left behind.

Be safe & God bless,
Chief Hank
