Explorers are required to qear the proper equipment to the task. For wildfires: nomex shirts, helmet goggles, ect.
For wrecks and structure fires full turnout gear is required for safety.

Per Learning For Life, Explorers need to be in the proper gear for whatever specific scene they may be on. If you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me. My e-mail address is fireguynick@aol.com.

Explorers should be wearing the BSA uniform, along with a unit patch and numerals. The equipment for operations is as follows:
Mask (even though no one uses them, not even me :-)
Rubber gloves
Turnout jacket and pants
Gloves
Helmet
Boots
Anything else email me at: engine1321@yahoo.com

Well Adam i must say it's nice ya wanna start one. Where i am from Explorers need Turn-Out Coats,Bunkers, hoods, and a helmet which can be decided by what your dept. has to give you. Here you aren't allowed onto the Engine for a call without FULL turn-out gear and your no usally allowed to borrow someone's gear. Any ?'s Im or email me at SAENG506@aol.com

Most explorer posts will give their juniors older, but still in service gear. This includes a helmet, coat, hood, pants, boots. In addition, you may be given a t-shirt or hat for non-fire (e.g. medical) calls. As for what to wear on the scene? Ask your officer, but when in doubt, wear all of your gear.
