Default What do u use to simulate smoke in training?

I was just wondering what do u guys use when u are doing air pack training for the simulated smoke. Because we need to know because we r still using the old method of pulling ur hood over ur mask. Don't get me wrong thats okay but now my Hood doesn't fit on my head the right way. Please let me know if u know what i am talking about.

We either use a smoke machine, or cover the inside of the mask with wax paper.

We use a smoke machine. When we do training at the firehouse we set up a maze with tables and shut the lights out.

My dept, along with 2 others surrounding us, purchased a roscoe theater fog machine. works wonders. you can smoke up a good sized area in about 6-10 minutes. You can probably rent one from a local theater supply company.
    HELL YEAH!!!
The comments made by me are just that. Not of the Fire dept or Ambulance squad I am on.

we have a smoke machine. in fact we just used it a couple of weeks ago for a drill, myself and a firefighter from one of our rescue units were teamed up, and we went in with a booster line, and we had to search the residence, and fine the victim. it surprised me how good it worked, i have always heard that they were good, but i couldnt believe it i went in on the nozzle, and i couldnt even see my hand in front of my face. well i hope this has been some help to you.
