Our Company Has Been Trying To Tackle The Issue Of Creating A Better Accountability System. Right Now, We Have A 3 Tag System. 1 Tag Stays On Your Bunker Gear, The Second Tag Is Left On The Apparatus You Are Responding On, And The Third Tag Is Supposed To Be Left At The Door In The Accountability Bucket. The Problem We Are Experiencing Is With The Third Tag, No One Has Time At A Working Job On The First Arriving Engine To Get Out The Bucket, Take It To The Door, And Collect Tags When They Have Many Other Jobs To Do. Our Policy Is To Just Throw The Tags At The Door Step Before You Enter A Dwelling, But There Is A Possibility That The Tags May Become Lost. Anyone Have Any Ideas To Help Our Company? Your Input Is Appreciated!![]()

Our entire department uses one accontibility tag, 99% of the time, unless its a prolonged call and/or worker, we keep them on our gear (some guys wear it on the hook on the back of their helmets, it just looks dumb that way. I keep it on one of my turnout coat snaps, and if the Safety Officer, or Asst. Safety Officer asks for them for the Accontibility chart, then we hand them over.

Our department uses a two tag system. One tag on your passport card, which goes on the accountability board, and one goes on the piece you are working out of. You place it on the card in the cab before you take your helmets tags, which attach to your helmet on front and back with velcro.

Pretty much everyone in this area uses the velcro name tag with the board for the truck. When you are assigned to the truck in the morning (or when you respond on it later in the day, if you have multiple assignments) you place your nametag on the board. On fires, the first in engine has initial command and the pump operater assumes accountability, meaning when you arrive on scene and go to work, you take the board for your truck to the 1st engine PO. When the first commanding officer arrives on scene, he assumes command (obviously) and will usually go over and grab the accountability board and assume that as well.
seems to work well..

we do a two tag one spare tag on your helmet and one on the board the accoutability officer (usualy an explorer) takes the tags and just keeps track of what all the units are doing we usualy dont have a seprate accountability for the interior (why bother we get 1-5 small house fires a year)
