My main department runs their "junior" firefighters through the Boy Scout Explorer program. The explorer post deals with the insurance and stuff like that.

Warren is right about the insurance. The BSA stuff is only $.80/year. With registration it costs like $9.00/year. Scouting only has a few things that explorers can't do.

Bryson BSA stands for "Boy Scouts of America". Talk to your local council office about an explorer program. The insurance is cheap and has nothing to do with the local government.
