I am a Chief from a rural county in central Virginia. I am looking for information on local ordinances, specifically with fire protection in subdivision developements. We are a bedroom community for the Richmond, VA area. We have many subdivision developements being planned and built. We have no county water system. All water for firefighting comes from draft ground water. I am interested in a possible local ordinance requiring developers to include in their subdivisions some type of water supply for firefighting. This could be a pond/lake with a dry hydrant and all weather access, or true community water system. My local government is interested in this. They have asked me to look into other communities that may be doing something similar, and possible copies of local ordinances. If anyone has any experience with this, or knows of someone who does, please let me know. Thanks.
