    Default Volunteer Chief

Can anyone tell me where it states that a chief is responible for the scene even if he is not on the scene. I know one that states he has to be on ever scene, because he is responible, even if one of his officers is on the scene. He chooses his own officers.

I am not sure where this is stated, but I believe it is a state law here in Louisiana. We respond mostly in POV's with radio contact knowing who is going to get the trucks. Our chief has a big personal liabilty for everyone while they are driving with their lights on. This is a concern and if you find out where this is written, I would like to know.
