    Here at our station we used an acid based cleaner to get down thru the grime and then we use BLUE MAGIC metal polishing cream. This combination seems to work well. We have a 1969 LaFrance that the diamond plate looks almost new on. We also have good luck using shag carpet to put it on with this gets down around all the edges. Good Luck.
