I'm interested in finding out about other departments recruit training programs. I conduct a 9 week program (360 hours) in my department and the recruits are trained to the FFI/II level, Haz-Mat FRO, and CPR/1st Responder. The curriculum was developed by the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy and is based on the IFSTA Essentials, 4th ed. Recruits also receive 40 hours of technical rescue (confined space, high angle rope, ice rescue, vehicle extrication, etc). I would like to hear from other medium to large career departments who conduct their own recruit training to exchange ideas and let me know how your department conducts its program. I also would like to hear from recent recruit graduates from different departments to comment on what they found most beneficial and interesting as well as what they considered boring and of little value. Looking forward to your replies. Thanks
