I have a couple of questions about some long handed down practices. I would like answers possibly referenced to some book somewhere, probably in an old IFSTA redbook. First, The old standpipes only had a clapper on one side and you had to hook into the other side first, which side had the clapper? Next, when working a 2-1/2 with a hose team, you want to direct the nozzle to the left. Do you give the order for "tip left" or "hose right"? Lastly, when carrying large ground ladders with a team. If you want to turn left, do you give the order for "tip right" or "butt left"?
