We have a problem in our fire company that I need help with. As Chief I have mandated that we take the 8 hr OSHA safty training perscribed under the NYS Dept of Labor.A member of my Dept says that I have to offer it but it is optional for members to take it under this mandate.I find this hard to believe that it would be mandated to give it but optional to take it.Our fire Dept Attorney say that he knows of no fire dept ever fined for a member not taking this important training. please help me
