Just wanted to throw a few questions out, to the fourm readers. I'am looking at Mass Decon procedures.
1.What do your Decon personnel use for PPE during Haz-Mat Decon Operations? Standard or Special Gear
2.What level of training do your decon personnel have?
3.Looking at the method for Mass Decon, that uses the engine, pumper, and ladder, sounds good for warm weather decon, but what suggestions would you have for us that have it cold 6 months of the year? Same method? How do you keep patients warm?
4.Finally what do you use (Solution) for equipment decon?

I'll tell you now I am a vol fire fighter, but in my full time job I am an Entry Team Chief for a Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil support team. I have seen every Decon on earth pretty much, and have not found the best one yet. My whole team is trained to the Hazmat Tech level and some of us to Specialist. Also we are Tech Escort qualified. I took my Haz Tech class at Phoenix fire academy that lasted 4weeks. I believe they have one of the best Decons I have seen. It is expensive, but it works. Contact me at work: james.cook@id.ngb.army.mil or home at cookred03@netzero.net and I will send you any information I can. Stay safe James

I forgot the rest. Are decon people are trained for just that DECON, the used to dress out one level below the entry team, but that is going to change. If you can afford to lose an SCBA every time you do decon then that is great. We are changing decon to fully encapsulating level B. Also the entry team will wear the f/e level B when level a is not required. The reason is they would rather pay for a $215.00 dollar suit than a $5000.00 scba.
