The Ravenna Township Fire Department has been proudly serving the citizens of the Township of Ravenna since 1994. In 1994, a financial dispute between the Township administration and the City Official, caused the creation of the Township Fire Department.
Since, its inception, the Township has evolved to a 24 hour Fire and EMS service with a minimum manning of 4 Part Time personnel. Paramedic Coverage is a constant.
The addition of a $ 875K Fire Station in the past year along with a $87K Wheeled Coach Medic Unit and a $ 299K Pierce Rescue Engine has advanced the equipment and overall standings of the department.
The Ravenna Township Fire Department also operates "Fire Com". Fire Com is a 24 Hour Dispatch service for all of the rural Fire Departments in Southern Portage County, Ohio. At this time, Fire Com serves 9 Fire Departments and the County EMA.
Due to integration of Dispatch between the Southern Departments, the Township Fire Department has increased its mutual aid response with automatic responses for a large majority of the departments served by Fire Com.
While only serving an actual area of 12 square miles, the Township Fire Department handles approx. 1100 calls per year.
