Long Beach NY is located on the south western shore of Long Island. We operate with a combined paid/volunteer department. There are 20 paid firefighters. They operate with 5 man crews who work a 24 hour tour. They use 1 ambulance(2319) and 1 engine(2343). If manpower allows, they will sacrifice 1 chauffer to drive the ladder(2362) which is a volunteer company. There are @100 volunteers divided among 7 companys. Special Operations such as water/rescue and extrication is an open operation and members from every company are strongly encouraged to assist although selected are qualified. We average 5000 runs a year which are mostly EMS runs and @10 "signal 10's"(working fires) a year.
