I am compiling data for a presentation to have refractive surgury (i.e. LASIK, PRK, RK, and INTACS) added to our current list of covered procedures. Currently all of our insurance contracts list these procedures as cosmetic. I believe that these procedures are a safety benefit for all Fire, Police, and EMS workers. If your department has these procedures covered, please let me know any and all data surrounding how coverage was obtained. I know Las Vegas has recently added these procedures to their benefits package. You can also Email me direct at email@example.com. Thank you all for your help.

I had Lasik done when my wife's insurance covered it. We used my results, literature from my Doc and information we compiled (most from the internet) and got it included on our last contract. I find it to be a safety issue - you won't lose your sight if your corrective lenses get lost, break or fail you while in a fire, because you won't have any corrective lenses on!
