I am currently researching the use of Rescue companies (HEAVY RESCUE UNITS-NOT AMBULANCES)in cities with populations between 150,000 and 250,000. I am interested in knowing how many you run, what types of responses you run them on, and how you may approach meeting 1710 and the 8 minute standard.
Here is the info on my city: Fort Wayne, IN, population 205,000, 316 firefighters, 14 engine companies, 4 truck companies and 1 rescue company (no ALS) Our rescue company runs on all structure fire responses, and all rescues (auto extrications, elevator, haz mat, scuba, confined space etc.)
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
