I'm on a volunteer department serving a community of ~2000 or so. We are at a point where we are considering staffing the station during the day for EMS calls. The main city we serve has said that we will need to bill for EMS calls if we are going to recieve assistance for these (paid) positions.
Does anybody have experiences or contacts with these billing services. We would like to check out several. Also what kind of percentage does one of these services charge? Do they help you find areas where billing is appropriate but may be overlooked?
Other questions/suggestions that came up during the meeting:
Paying responders on a call basis.
Providing employers with reports on hours employees spend on call for tax write off.
Several alternative methods of "paying" people for service.
Paid EMTs that may or may not be available for fire calls.
Thanks in advance,
