I have a post on the Engineers page and need info on rear mount pumps. Pro's Con's maintenance, usability, etc. Your opinions are appreciated.

To my knowledge, I have not seen a single Rear-mount pumper in the Strucure business. The USFS & BLM use rear mounts on thier Type 3 engines. The rear-mount in my opinion is not very useful. I personally belive in the Top-mount pump. It is close to the cab if needed. The D/O can see both sides of the truck (verses a side mount where you can't see the fire if you approach from a different direction) and if you put a head set on the D/O you have basically "teathered" him to the apparatus. The only down side that I see is the increased distance to fall from.

*My opinions only, take them how you may
