Default Hello. Any EMT's in the room?

Hello. I am Cheryl. I am currently an EMT-B with a joint venture between the Chicago Fire Department and Hull House Association called the First Aid Care Team. I have been an EMT-B for about 2 years. I am a first year college student majoring in Fire Science.

    Default firefighter/EMT

It was a job requirement when I got hired (11 years ago) to also become an EMT. We had our EMS training after completing the fire academy. We used to have a 2 tier EMS system, made up of squads(1 medic, 1 EMT) and medics(3 medics). We've had our current system, medics(2 medics) and ALS engines(1 medic) for the past 5 years or so.

    Hi Chicago EMS,
I've been a FF for six years. Finished my associate's degree in fire science three years ago and decided I should go through paramedic school while I still felt up to school work. After finishing medic school, I figured I should just keep trucking. I am now in my second quarter at the University of Cincinnati, in their correspondence program to a B.S. in Fire Engineering Technology. Where are you going to school at? Hope it's going well. I must admit I am starting to become sick and tired of school! Stay safe, Dave

Welcome, kind of new here on these message boards, but I've been an EMT-B since '84, a cop since '83, and a volunteer FF since '89. (My wife keeps saying something about everything I do being dangerous.....what's she talking about?)

    Default Hello

    Hi iceman
I could not understand why your wife would say that..LOL As long as you enjoy what you do and you are good at what you do and are safe at it then have fun. I think you also like the adreline rush that it gives you. I know I would LOL I hope your wife is understanding and doesn't give you too much of a hassle over what you do.. Just be safe and becareful..
