Passion for the House of God

Then his disciples remembered this prophecy from the Scriptures:
"Passion for God's house burns within me."
-- John 2:17 (NLT)

What are your passions? Are your passions for the "House of God,"
God's holy Temple? If we follow the mock trial of Jesus, the false
basis of his execution was rooted in this event; he was accused of
blaspheming the Temple. Of course, we know that was not true. Jesus
was "done in" by his holy passion for God's things, God's business,
and God's house. So let me ask you again, what is your passion?
Life without passion is flat and boring. Life with the wrong
passions is dissipated on destructive pursuits. But when life is
built around godly passions, it leaves a permanent impact. What's
your passion?

Father, give me a more fervent passion for your people, your work,
and your Kingdom. Through your Holy Spirit, stoke the fires of my
heart to live with a holy passion for your things. In Jesus' name.

TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/

The word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he
does. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full
of his unfailing love.
-- Psalm 33:4-5

God is faithful. We can trust his promises to be kept and his
purposes to be good. How do we know? The sunrise each morning is
a reminder that the Father of heaven and earth is at work keeping
his universe in working order. If it is true in nature, it is true
in the spiritual realm as well. Greet each sunrise as a reminder
of God's faithfulness.

O Magnificent and Majestic Creator, I greet today as your gift
and a reminder of your faithfulness. Each day the sun rises I
anticipate the day you honor your promise to send your Son back to
bring us home to you. Give me a keen sense today of your faithful
presence. I pray this through him in whom all your promises find
their fulfillment. Amen.
