Only the Holy Spirit

Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives
new life from heaven. So don't be surprised at my statement that you
must be born again.
-- John 3:6-7 (NLT)

Not religious practice. Not religious accomplishment. Not
religious titles. Not religious pedigree. Not the faith of parents.
Not the recognition of community. There is no human means that can
accomplish our new birth, our God-birth, our from-above-birth, our
spiritual rebirth. Only the Holy Spirit can give us "life from
heaven." God's Kingdom is as revolutionary as it is eternal. Humans
can't muster the righteousness or perfection or power to make it
happen. But God can, and does, by the power of his Holy Spirit.
That's why we call it being saved by grace! Only God can pull this
off for us.

Father God, thank you for your grace displayed in sending Jesus to
be the sacrifice for my sins and for giving spiritual rebirth by the
power of your Holy Spirit. May I never boast except in the Cross of
Christ and your Holy Spirit power. In the name of my Lord Jesus, I
pray. Amen.

Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It
always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
-- 1 Corinthians 13:6-7

Always love - pretty tall order and pretty tough stuff. Only
God is always. But then Christians are fueled to an always love
through the Holy Spirit! Elsewhere, Paul tells us that "The love
of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy
Spirit who was given to us." (Rom. 5:5) No wonder this love is
always -- it is God's love, demonstrated by Jesus' sacrifice, and
delivered by the Holy Spirit!

Sweet and Glorious God on High, I humble myself before you
recognizing your boundless power to love, the incredible need for
love in the lives of those around me, and my limited ability to
love. Please pour your Holy Spirit into my heart and fill me with
the power to love as you do, always. In Jesus' sweet name I pray.
