Only Jesus
For only I, the Son of Man, have come to earth and will
return to heaven again.
-- John 3:13 (NLT)
KEY THOUGHT:
What is something that only you can do? Now think for a moment; is it
really something only you can do? No one else in the world can do it?
No one else but you has ever done it? Only Jesus was part of heaven and
came to earth. Only Jesus is one with the Father. Only one was sent
from the Father's side to return there in glory. There are many reasons
to believe and obey the words that Jesus says. He reminds us of one
very important reason. He has come from heaven to speak the words of
God to us as the Word of God. He comes with heavenly authority and
heavenly identity. Only he is the Son. Only he is truly from heaven.
Only Jesus!
TODAY'S PRAYER:
Father, in my frustrations, trials, disappointments, discouragements,
and fears, pull my heart back to Jesus. Holy God, in my failures, sins,
rebellious moments, and weakness in the face of tempation, please bring
me back to my Savior. I recognize that my hope, my future, my
salvation, and my glory are found only in Jesus. Even now, dear Father,
I am thankful that as I pray, he is at your side and makes my heart
fully known before the throne of grace, so I pray in Jesus name. Amen.

VERSE:
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved
you , so you must love one another. By this all men will know that
you are my disciples, if you love one another.
-- John 13:34-35

THOUGHT:
How do you recognize Jesus' followers? How do you find
Christians? Jesus said they love each other just as he loved the
disciples. In the immediate context this means he is willing to
give sacrificially and extravagantly by dying for them at the
cross, and he is also willing to love selflessly and practically by
washing their feet. His ministry reveals he will do almost
anything in between extravagant and practical. Imagine if we all
read the Gospels and committed to love each other in the same way
Jesus showed his love to his disciples!
PRAYER:
Father of Compassion and God of all grace, I thank you for
teaching me to love through the example of Jesus. May my words and
actions reflect his love toward your people today, tomorrow, and
until you bring us all home to you. In the name of Christ, my
Great Example, I pray. Amen.

1 Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
