Angry Makes me ashamed to be a Fedreral Firefighter

This guy is Chief of the largest Federal Fire Department in the USA! What a shining example he is to all of us! I am sorry and saddened that he "represents all of us..."

Fire chief suspected of child molestation

    SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE
    February 16, 2002

A La Mesa man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of sexual activity with a minor, police said.

David Kent Martineau, 48, chief of the federal fire department that serves San Diego area military installations, is accused of having sexual contact with a 15-year-old boy he met through the Internet, police said.

Martineau has been booked into County Jail on suspicion of sodomy with a person less than 18 years old, oral copulation on a person less than 18, possession of child pornography and penetration with a foreign object, police said.

La Mesa Detective Justin Smith said Martineau was arrested at his home yesterday after detectives executed a search warrant.

What comes around goes around. When this Chief is found guilty. He will find out what a foreign object feels like.

Keep us posted on the mess. As far as the position. You must applied few years ago. We do not have GS-05 positions anymore. You start as a Engineer GS-06. As far as the ranking goes here. Personnel sends the top 10 to the Fire Chief. As a whole, the department looks at the aplications and determine who will get interviewed for the top five slots. Which is nice . You get some sort of an idea of the candidated. As the Chief says you have to work with the individual, I don't.

Default San Diego Federal Fire Chief...

Found out that this guy made bail...and had the nerve to ask the Admiral if he could get his old job back!

On a lighter note, any Federal fire departments out there have a dive team?...

    Default Dive Team

I used to work at West Point (IAFF F-7) and we had a dive team. I was PADI certified Advanced Open Water and Rescue. Where I currently volunteer, we have a Cold Water Rescue team - but we don't go under. The Sherriff and the State Rangers do that.

Unhappy To Those that are ashamed to be a Federal Fire Fighter

I can understand you anger over the disgraceful acts that this Fire Chief is charged with, but I don't understand you basing your pride in your job over one bad apple.

I have been in the Federal Fire Service for over 7 years now and have seen and/or heard of Federal Fire Fighters commiting disgraceful acts. But I don't base my pride on a few bad apples I would rather base my pride in the job I do and the job of the majority of my brothers and sisters in the Federal Fire Service do. I have enclosed a email from a friend of mine from Washington D.C. right after the 9/11 attacks.

"The pic is of the crash truck at the Pentagon. Chief Campbell is the chief of Ft Myers and this was his truck. It is stationed at the helo pad at the Pentagon.

The day of the attacks, there were three firefighters stationed with the piece. Two were outside and came around the front of the truck just in time to see the aircraft about 300 yards out and 50 feet off the deck. They made a run for it but the blast knocked them down. One was knocked out and both received 2nd degree burns on their arms. The one inside the station had the ceiling and ductwork knocked down on him and the fireball rolled in the station. The walls of the station were pushed almost 12 inches out from the blast force.

They gathered themselves together and started the truck (yes it would still start) but it wouldn't move or pump. They helped some of the folks on the ground floor out through windows and waited for the calvary (Arlington FD) and then fought some fire."

These are some of the examples I base my pride in the Fedral Fire Service on.

The cavalry was Arlington County and the rest of the Ft Myer Fire Dept. The whole Dept was in an ARFF class at the time of the crash and were on scene in about 5 minutes. We were the first ones to put water on the fire because we knew how to get into the crash site since we are there everyday. All 3 F/F that were on scene at the time of the crash are all back to work and doing fine.
