I have brought up the idea of going to 48 hours on and 96 hours off to our dept. We currently work the kelly schedule 3 on 4 off. Many like the idea of a trial, about 70%, but the rest don't including the 3 shift BC's.
I know some depts. in California, Washington, and New Mexico use this and I would like some info. Please respond if you work this or know others that work the 48/96 and give opinions on popularity, and any pros and cons.
The firefighters that are against this feel that 48 hours away is too long, even though you go right into a four day. The BC's feel that you will not get any work out of you guys on the second 24.
