If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?

i am going on a ridealong with my paid department that i live in. I am a explorer with the next city over, and have my own turnouts. I was gaven permission to bring my turnouts on my ridealong to wear on calls, but im not sure what calls i should wear them on. I know some departments wear just pants on medicals or regular TC's, some wear full PPE to everything. What do YOU wear on different calls? I need to know what I should wear on what calls.

even though i am an explorer, we use alot of this stuff for training and i carry medical gloves everywhere when im riding along since im usually on the medic and we mostly run EMS calls
so
Helmet-real simple and light, i carry my two wooden wedges, which i use often, and my ESS googles, i use my google strapp to put my wedges in, works good
Coat-inside pocket i alwasy have atleast one pair of medic gloves, on the outside pockets i have a pair of normal leather work gloves, my pelican light, webbing, and usually my structural gloves on the strap, or in the pockets
Pants- i usually store my hood in the pockets cause i don it after i don my pant so i figure its a good spot to have it, i have another larger wedge in there that i use all the time to hold doors open, and my rescue wrench, and of course some medical gloves

My god do you carry a lot! Of course that isn't always a bad thing.
I carry a res-q-wrench in my pants. Other than that, I have an LED light on my helmet and a radio pocket.Dave Bieniek

Helmet: goggles, garrity light, wood chok (thinking about adding some nails) .
Coat: structural gloves on a glove keeper (the glove keeper clips to the loop on the coat, opposte the radio pocket. there really good cuz they keep the cloves right in front of you. no fumbling threw pockets.) and my coat pocets are empty.
Pants: Saftey Glasses(for extraction), mecchanics gloves(extraction again), and in the other pocket i keep several pairs of medical gloves. and i keep my nomex hood in between my boots.
i tend to keep more stuff in my pants pocket cuz no matter what you pretty much always have your pants on, where as on a hot day you might take off your coat.

Some of you guys have a ridiculous amount of crap in your pockets. I feel almost under prepared. I have the following:
Helmet - Two wedges, Hood and a Flashlight for confined spaces only, we do carry boxlights on the rigs.
Coat - Structural Gloves, pocket knife and center punch, radio in the radio pocket when on calls, again we have those on the rigs too.
Pants - Extrication Gloves, Paper Towels for wiping my facepiece, and EMS gloves, most time no EMS gloves though as we carry those on the rigs too :-)

i carry my structural gloves, and my extrication gloves in my bunker pants, and in my coat i carry a little pair of cutters, i dont carry to much cause when we arrive on scene i just pull all the equipment off the truck ill need, the reason i carry cutters though is cause i dont wanna run all the way back to the engine and search the tool box just for cutters
