My friend and I are members of a city department in Ohio. He has this old metal helmet and we're trying to find out where it was made and what it's worth. Does anybody have any ideas? Or if not, does anyone know of a good place to find out? Any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated

According to your photo's it looks like a 32 comb aluminum helmet made by Cairns & Bros. from New York model #900 circa late 1950's - early 1960's probably worth about $100.00. Again probably a standard service helmet that is what it looks like to me someelse may have a different point of view. This information comes from a book that I have for fire service collectibles. The values maybe a little off the book I have is from 1996.
"Hot Stuff! Firefighting Collectibles by Andrew G. Gurka"
Got this book from www.amazon.com as a present from a family member."The saw won't start, heh, grab the axe and start chopping"

Helmet Info
If you want more details regarding this helmet, you can contact the manufacturer at the following:
Cairns & Brother, Inc.
60 Webro Rd
Clifton, NJ 07012
(201)-473-5867 FAX (201)-473-1357
I'm sure they have someone who can identify your helmet and give you information about it.
